Dustin Pedroia is My Kind of Guy

Dustin Pedroia Swinging

I think this needs to be the new slogan. Because Dustin Pedroia Is My Kind of Guy (short and balding notwithstanding).

He’s a hustle player, the guy nobody believes in. His stats and accomplishments don’t seem to match his appearance, but there he is, leading off and hitting .325 for the rookie minimum salary. No matter what complaints anybody has about the guys on this year’s Red Sox team, not one of them is about this guy.

I think the picture says it all - here he is ripping the ball foul down the line. Look at the power in that swing! OK, so he doesn’t have traditional power numbers, but for someone who is 5′ 9″ and 180 lbs, 26% of hits being for extra bases is amazing (25 doubles, 1 triple, and 5 home runs out of 117 hits). It’s not David Ortiz type percentage, but for a guy who was barely supposed to hold on to the #9 spot in the lineup, I’d say its pretty good.

So next time you are at Fenway and Dustin is up at bat, make sure you tell the people sitting next to you that Dustin Pedroia is My Kind of Guy!

Stumble it!
